Description

A ball valve is a quarter-turn rotary valve that uses a hollow, perforated, and pivoting ball to control the flow of fluids. When open, the ball's hole aligns with the flow path for uninterrupted passage. Ball valves are known for their durability, tight sealing, and quick shut-off.

Features

  • Operation: 90° quarter-turn for quick open/close
  • Flow Control: Full bore design ensures minimal pressure drop
  • Sealing: Excellent tight shut-off, even after prolonged use
  • Design Types: One-piece, two-piece, three-piece, and multi-port configurations
  • Body Material: Stainless Steel, Brass, PVC, or Carbon Steel
  • Ball Material: Chrome-plated brass, stainless steel
  • Seat Material: PTFE (Teflon), Reinforced PTFE, or other polymers
  • End Connections: Flanged, Threaded (BSP/NPT), Welded, Socket
  • Pressure Rating: Class 150–800 or up to 1000 PSI
  • Temperature Range: -20°C to 200°C
  • Size Range: ½” to 24” or more
  • Applications: Oil & Gas, Water Supply, Chemical, HVAC, Food & Beverage, Marine, Power Plants

Advantages

  • Fast and easy operation
  • Reliable tight seal, even after long periods of disuse
  • Low torque requirement
  • Minimal maintenance
  • Versatile for both liquid and gas applications
  • Available in various configurations: 2-way, 3-way, V-port, trunnion mounted

Limitations

  • Not suitable for throttling flow (can damage seats)
  • May trap fluid in the body cavity when closed (requires bleed/relief design)
